Howard Shaw Underage Girl Scandal

Howard Shaw: The grandson of the founder of Shaw Organisation, who was charged with paying an underage girl for sex in April, asked for an early plea to be taken.

This means that 41-year-old Howard Shaw will decide whether or not to plead guilty.

Former Singapore Environment Council (SEC) executive director Howard Shaw was among the 48 men who were earlier charged with paid sex with a 17-year-old girl.

He is now represented by a team of lawyers led by Mr Harpreet Singh Nehal, a senior counsel from WongPartnership.

In a statement to the media, his lawyers raised the issue of Shaw's charge, which falls under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which is an "absolute liability offence" under Singapore law.

This means that the accused would be deemed to have committed the offence - even though there's no intent. 40-year-old Swiss expatriate Juerg Buergin will be back in court on 3 July.

Juerg, who is currently unemployed, allegedly paid the girl for sex in late 2010 and early 2011. He is currently out on a S$15,000 bail.

His lawyer, Mr Selva K. Naidu, commented that his client is "reasonably okay".

The former principal of Pei Chun Public School, Lee Lip Hong, was the first man to be convicted in the online vice ring case. He was sentenced to nine weeks' jail in April, and was released on 8 June for good behaviour after serving six weeks behind bars.

“I agonized over this for about ten days, and we decided to simply and purely respond to our hearts,” she continued. “Two days ago, I called Ji Hyun Woo who calmly waited for me through a very anxious situation, and while we were walking in the park, we decided that he will stop being ‘In Hyun’s Man’ and instead, start being ‘Yoo In Na’s Man’.”

Yoo In Na cautiously admitted their relationship and added, “I like him, I am confident. He gave me that confidence. I want to be in a beautiful relationship, more than anyone else.”

Forced Abortion In China: Authorities in China's Shaanxi province have launched an investigation into an incident of forced abortion, pledging that anyone found responsible will be punished according to relevant laws and regulations, Xinhua reported Thursday.
Feng Jianmei, 27, was forced to terminate her pregnancy at seven months in a hospital in Zhenping county June 2.

Details of the case, including several photos showing the remains of the foetus lying next to the mother on her hospital bed, were posted at online forums. It shocked and angered many people nationwide.

Many netizens described the case as outrageous and tragic.

"It is brutal to end a new life that will soon come into the world. It breaks my heart to see such a thing," one of the netizens "Fen Hong Shan Hu Hai" wrote in a post on Sina's Weibo.com, the country's largest microblogging website.

Marina Bay Sands Death

Marina Bay Sands Death: Dutch tourist falls from MBS Skypark: "Dead body on the grass verge at Marina Bay Sands.

A male foreign national, who was in his 40s, was found dead along Bayfront Avenue, where Marina Bay Sands is located, on Tuesday afternoon.

The body was discovered at about 2.45pm on the grass verge next to the East Coast Expressway.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force and Police said they received a call at 3pm.

SCDF said it despatched an ambulance. Upon arrival, the SCDF pronounced the man dead on the spot. He was found with multiple injuries.

A 46-year-old Dutch tourist fell to his death from Marina Bay Sands Skypark on Tuesday afternoon.

This is the first time such an incident has happened since the SkyPark's June 2010 opening.

Chinese daily Shin Min Daily News said the man was found on a grass patch in front of the integrated resort and that he was already dead when police officers and Singapore Civil Defence Force responders arrived.

MBS deployed more than 10 staff to seal up the area and prevent passers-by from gathering.

A black screen was erected in front of the scene. Security officials were also posted to prevent unauthorised access.

The officials said renovation works were going on when questioned by the Chinese daily's reporter.

Hitachi Data Systems ‘not aware’ of Ex-Staff Cecilia Sue offering ‘fellatio’ to Ng Boon Gay. former employee Cecilia Sue Siew Nang was implicated in the corruption case of ex-CNB director Ng Boon Gay that was the subject of a police investigation, following the shocking revelation in court yesterday.

Ng Boon Gay was charged for corruptly with four counts of corruptly obtaining sexual gratification for Cecilia Sue. He was accused of ‘allegedly’ having oral sex with her on four occasions, between June and December 2011.

In a statement released to the press, Hitachi Data Systems said any alleged inappropriate behaviour attributed to Ms Sue during her time at the company was undertaken “without the knowledge” of anyone at Hitachi Data Systems.

It added that it does not condone the alleged behaviour, and that it was not in a position to comment further as the case is currently before the courts.

Ms Sue’s current employer, Oracle Corporation Singapore, declined comment when contacted.

He was slated to be the new Commissioner of Police at that point in time but missed the opportunity due to the case.
He is now with Marina Bay Sands as ED of Security.

Her identity was outed months ago as one of the women allegedly linked to a sex-for-contracts corruption case. But Ms Cecilia Sue Siew Nang has not left her current job.
